For this project, I asked several people to empty their personal bags, arrange their items however they wanted and send me a picture of it. I chose eight of these individuals “bag spreads” to illustrate. My project focuses on the items in the bags and how they show the personalities of each person. How much can you know about a person by what they carry with them in their bag? It’s about perception and individuality, as well as privacy, necessity and how I as the illustrator could make these (possibly mundane) objects interesting. I aim to make my viewer more inquisitive about not only each person whose bag I’ve illustrated, but their own personal belongings as well.
